Priyanka Parikh smiling in warm evening light

About Priyanka

Joy in the
everyday.

Priyanka Parikh paints out of an appreciation for the simple, ordinary parts of life, the things most people stop seeing because they are always there.

Her work lives in the space between structure and chaos. Each painting holds just enough form to anchor the eye and just enough looseness to let it wander. Her strokes are made to be followed: they lead the eye across the surface, so that looking becomes less like reading an image and more like a sensation, something felt in the mind as much as seen. Working across oil, oil pastel and oil stick, she moves colour and shape away from description and toward feeling.

At a time when so much feels unsettled and change comes faster than anyone can take in, the studio gives her somewhere to set up a grounding practice. She hopes the people who see her work find a small moment of joy there too.

The paintings stay open on purpose. Parikh isn't telling anyone what to see or how to feel. She wants viewers comfortable enough to let their imagination run loose, and if a painting stirs up unease or even anger instead of joy, that is welcome too. What matters is that it evokes emotion.
